Our History and Awards
OUR HISTORY
Northern Hills Elementary School in Edmond opened in 1964 with six classrooms and a total enrollment of 180 students. The school was then located in a country setting in the remote northeast corner of the district. Over the next 50 years, the building, population, and even the location has seen numerous changes! Built on 10.3 acres of rolling hills, Northern Hills now has a total enrollment of 720 students and 47 classrooms, state of the art Media Center, two computer classroom labs, a gymnasium, full service cafeteria and a welcoming office center.
Northern Hills celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2014 celebrating our rich history and traditions. As our community continues to look to the future, one constant will remain the same, the excellence of the Northern Hills’ teachers, staff, parents, and especially students. As our mission statement proclaims:
Educating the “whole” child as we instill a passion for learning.
